Meet Linda, Team Member at Aurora House

January 22, 2016

Linda joined the team at Aurora House as a Senior Support Worker after relocating from Portugal. We spoke with Linda to find out how she was getting on since starting her new role in November 2015.

How have you found your first few months at Mentaur?

It’s been great! I’ve really enjoyed every moment since I first started working at Mentaur. Back in Portugal I used to offer support to vulnerable adults, and it’s been great taking on a brand new role at Mentaur where I can use the skills I’ve previously learnt plus further develop my knowledge.

How have you found working at Aurora House?

One of the best things about working at Mentaur is the team. Everyone has been incredibly supportive and welcoming, helping me to settle in. With everyone’s help I’ve been able to develop my knowledge and by working hard I’ve already had the opportunity to progress; I’m delighted to have been promoted to Team Leader at Aurora House, and I’m looking forward to taking on more responsibility and continuing to learn.

What’s it like living in Bedford after moving from Portugal?

When I first arrived I was struck by how different everything is here! But now I’m used to it and feel very much at home in Bedford and at Aurora. Although the cold weather of the last week or so has been a bit of a challenge!

What would you say to people considering a career at Mentaur?

Without a doubt, I would have no hesitation in telling people to apply for a role at Mentaur. Yes it’s challenging, but it’s wonderful to work as part of a strong close-knit team, working together to make a difference. Mentaur give people the opportunity to progress their knowledge and career early on and it’s exciting to be a part of a growing organisation committed to achieving great things. I’m look forward to what lies ahead!
